João Paulo Lima-Santos MD

Dr. Lima Santos is a Research Instructor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. He is a psychiatrist focused on identifying the mechanisms that contribute to risk for psychiatric disorders, with a particular emphasis on adolescence—a critical period for brain development and the emergence of mental health challenges. A recipient of the NARSAD Young Investigator Award, his research integrates diffusion neuroimaging to examine how digital media use and sleep patterns influence adolescent brain white matter development and contribute to the onset of mood disorders.
